The BBC has reported that the Bible is, for the first time, being translated from the original Hebrew and Greek into Jamaican patois. It’s a move welcomed by those Jamaicans who are keen to have their mother tongue promoted as the national language, but opposed by others, who think learning and speaking English should be their priority. Personally, I think that anything that makes the Bible more accessible to as wide an audience as possible can only be a good thing.
